[FPSPACE] Astronaut sighting of TLP during Apollo mission

If memory serves, the CSM pilot on Apollo 17 saw a meteor strike in real
time.  He got excited about it.  He called it "Vostog" or "Vostok".I wrote
him a letter while he was still alive, and he told me he didn't know why he
used that term (it's on the CD "The Mission Transcript Collection: Mercury
Redstone 3 to Apollo 17"), but he said he was thinking "Meteor"..just type
in "Vostog" in the search engine for the PDF file software on the CD, and it
will come up.

 

Still a mystery to me why he would use the term "Vostog" or "Vostok"  (it's
in the transcript).
