FYI-

Dear colleague:

I have a great pleasure to make the first announcement that the 5th
International Symposium on Beamed Energy Propulsion (ISBEP 5) is planned
to be held on November 12 - 15 2007 at Outrigger Keahou Beach Resort
(near Kona, Big Island) Hawaii (http://www.keauhou-resort.com/ ). The
last day, Friday, November 15, will be reserved to the trip to Volcanoes
National Park: (http://www.hawaii.volcanoes.national-park.com/ ).  We
have still more than a year before the venue, but I hope that some of
you would like to have your calendars marked ahead of time. I am going
to keep you posted on all important developments pertinent to the
conference, deadlines, etc.

If you are ready: you are welcome to send me your abstract(s) right now:
just, please, keep the traditional format: title, author(s) name(s) and
affiliation(s) and text not to exceed 150 words. I already collected
several abstracts.

ISBEP 5 Proceedings will be published (as usual) as Conference Series of
American Institute of Physics. Proceeding will have the same format, as
those made for ISBEP 1,2,3, and 4: book, hardcover, 6x9-inch size.

ISBEP 5 will be held in the same tradition as all our previous meetings,
assembled in Huntsville (2002), Sendai (2003), Troy (2004) and Nara
(2005). All topics pertinent to the field of beamed-energy propulsion
are welcome. These topics include, but not limited to:

> basic science and technology of laser, microwave, x-ray and
particle-beam propulsion and beamed micropropulsion (microthrusters);
> power-beamed photon sails
> hybrid and auxiliary BEP systems;
> beam-propelled aircraft;
> BEP flight experiments;
> BEP mission and system analysis;
> directed-energy airspikes;
> beam generation, guidance and propagation for propulsion;
> new BEP concepts;

> lasers and other sources for BEP;
> research facilities for BEP tests.

In a few weeks I am planning to send you a link to the web site of ISBEP
5. At this point I am referring you to the previous sites of ISBEP 4
(http://www.mech.titech.ac.jp/~ryuutai/ISBEP4.html ) and ISBEP 3
(http://lpw.uah.edu/Home.html ). Please, note that the last link will
be used for web address of ISBEP 5.

I am looking forward to hearing from you if you would have any questions
and hope to see you all next year at the sunny Keahou.

Please, pass this message to everyone who might be interested in
participating in ISBEP 5.

Sincerely,

Andrew V. Pakhomov, Chair
