[FPSPACE] Recent Advances in Space Technologies 2007 in Turkey

Dear FPSpacers,

RAST (Recent Advances in Space Technologies) Conferences have now become a traditional biennial event with worldwide participation. The third RAST Conference or RAST 2007 will be held again in Istanbul on 14-16 June 2007. As before, it is the mission of the organizers to make RAST 2007 a premier event in space technology developments especially those on the way to near future deployment. 

The conference is jointly organized by Turkish Air Force Academy, IEEE, AIAA, Tubitak-(Turkish Scientific and Technical Research Council), Istanbul Technical University, Bogazici University, Marmara University, Istanbul Commerce University and American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE).

This year, main topic of the conference is  "SPACE FOR A MORE SECURE WORLD" . RAST2007 has the main objective of providing a forum for the presentation and review of recent developments in space technologies especially emphasizing the security dimension. Coverage of the conference should be attractive for participants coming both from technical and management / policy backgrounds, including engineers, academicians, government officials, space company managers, businessmen, educators, and students. Techniques, technologies, projects and policy papers in navigation, communication and observation, including surveillance and early warning, which all make contributions to security, are welcome.

Topics: Specific presentations may fall under, but not be limited to the following:

  a.. Space technologies that contribute to security, considering all aspects and threats
  b.. Developments in global positioning, especially regarding GALILEO, but also GPS, GLONASS
  c.. Earth observation projects and programs geared especially toward prediction, mitigation monitoring of natural disasters, (earthquakes, floods, forest fires, etc.)
  d.. New remote sensing technologies and applications, i.e. hyperspectral sensing, SAR, applications in meteorology, environment, agriculture, etc
  e.. Developments in new space communication techniques, higher frequencies and bandwidths
  f.. Small satellites, micro, nano and pico satellites, cubesat developments
  g.. Novel techniques in space propulsion, hybrid, electric, microwave laser, ion, solar wind etc.
  h.. New launch systems and ventures, especially for small spacecraft
  i.. Design and construction of space structures, materials
  j.. Energy from Space
  k.. New and novel instrumentation for various spacecraft functions, including attitude determination  and control, power management, communication etc.
  l.. New computer systems an applications regarding space missions.
  m.. Scientific applications, near Earth space, deep space, microgravity sciences
  n.. International cooperation in space activities
  o.. Social, educational and other benefits of space
  p.. Space Law
  q.. Space Medicine
