David,

A lot of us are indeed spun up about moon dust (even if we who don't
stand to get any funding for it), largely because of dramatic first-hand
Apollo astronaut reports about its pervasiveness and operational
impacts, and because of distrubing results from *very* preliminary
biological studies of lunar dust simulants.

I think a little conservativism is appropriate (if only in this
situation ;) ) until the actual risk can be assessed and mitigated. But
I remain to be convinced that a personal portable microwave emitter
(klystron?) aimed in the direction of ambulation is really a practical
solution.

[snippage]...I'm astounded that anyone buys the idea that dealing with
moondust must be a major NASA priority. It's just one of many problems
we need to solve if we're to get along in space, and not the most
significant. I suppose that inflating the menace is a great way to get
money (as we've seen a lot lately)...
