MOSCOW, March 28 (RIA Novosti) - Former member of the State Institute of Exploitation and Repairs of Air Force 

>Kuznetsov's conclusions are sensational. He claims Gagarin and Seryogin were unconscious during the fall and could not pull out of the steep descent. He says the cause was a vent cock somebody left open in Gagarin's cabin, leaving the cabin unpressurized from the flight's start. 


All things considered, this is one of the least "sensational" explanations for what happened.  There have been a lot of crazy conspiracy theories, including that the KGB had him killed.  I think that in many ways the most boring conclusion is probably the correct one--some kind of mechanical and/or human error.
