Hello Gang,
Has anyone read the "Conquest of Space" by David Lasser?
This book has the distinction of being the first book in the English
Language concerning the possibility of Space Exploration Written in 1931
it is still a wonderful read today, some 74 years after it first
appeared. It had a profound impact on Arthur C. Clarke. In the recent
addition published by Apogee books Clarke wrote the Introduction.

I wrote to Apogee Books shortly after buying the Conquest of Space via
AMAZON.COM and made the following proposal:

"I very much enjoyed “The Conquest of Space”
by David Lasser and “The High Frontier” by Gerald O’Neil, and
a thought occurred to me that it would be wonderful that other
great books concerning Space Exploration of historical
significance should be republished and launched as a new series
by Apogee books. Some of the titles I have in mind (to name but
a few include “Interplanetary Flight” and also the “Exploration
of Space” by Arthur C. Clarke and “Islands in Space: The
Challenge of the Planetoids, by Dandridge Cole and Michael
Cox. Another great book to republish would be “The World, The
Flesh, and The Devil” by J.D. Bernal. You should also consider
republishing the works of Hermann Oberth, Konstantine
Tsiolkovsky, and Robert H. Goddard. "

The whole subject of Space Exploration has had a wonderful history
reflected in the books written at the Prelude to the Space Age. It would
be sad to lose this wonderful heritage.
