Subject: [FPSPACE] Russian lunar plans..."first vision" as
NikolaySevastyanov says...
>From ARMS-TASS reportage...
If funding is solid....and sustained....
The circumlunar mission would go in 2009, and lunar landing (with
people) in 2012....
RKK Energia reveals itself.....under the guise of tourist industry, the
Russian government wishes to pre-empt the Chinese and AMericans...with
panache, I might add!
Lunar journey (circumlunar) would have a timetable like this...
day 1--launch into space
day 2--joining with the MKS (to aid in acclimitization)
day 5--launching of RB on Proton, and un-docking of Soyuz from MKS
day 6--joining of Soyuz and RB;
day 9--Soyuz is on back side of the moon;
day 12--landing on Earth
Also states that the lunar landing phase will also use Soyuz and RB
launched by Proton
Multiple dockings of stuff in Earth orbit prior to launching toward
Moon;
Rough machine translation of interesting paragraphs:
".... Besides at this stage introduction of the new technologies
providing joining of interorbital blocks in a circumterraneous and lunar
orbit is provided. Heavy cargoes by an old technique will not be
delivered to the Moon directly from the Earth. Separate blocks will
gather in large-sized units in space. Joining in a circumterraneous
orbit of the lunar block and two razgonnyh blocks is supposed, in
particular: one RB will disperse a sheaf, RB this sheaf will be braked
and translated by another on okololunnuju an orbit. Delivery of other
elements of the lunar program, including the tanker with fuel and
pilotiruemogo the ship is in the same way provided. Then joining in a
lunar orbit, fuelling and landing will be carried out...."
Sevastyanov is also quoted as saying that the funding will not only go
for lunar effort, but also for further technology development, as well
as help "Clipper" development as well....so that's where some of the 200
million will go to...
Tell me, is Nikolay related in any way to Vitaliy the cosmonaut?
Thanks.
