[FPSPACE] Russian MiG-31D ASAT weapon?

I'm doing some research on ASAT arms control and am interested in the MiG-31 launched ASAT weapon that the Soviet Union started development on in the late 1980s.  The weapon was supposedly to be built by Vympel and two MiG-31D aircraft were built to launch it.  

This was revealed in a 1992 Aviation Week article.  Supposedly in the late 1990s someone proposed using this for air launching small commercial satellites.

Has any more information appeared in the Russian literature about this system?
