[FPSPACE] ISS designation...

Hi!

I've just seen the short video on http://spaceflightnowplus.com/video/0404/040427sfn.html about an interview with the two american astronauts on ISS. One thing that got my attention was the fact the MCC Houston is using the Alpha call-sign to talk with ISS. Is this only a general call-sign or is MCC Houston using this designation as the real name of the International Space Station?
