This is a response about the Soyuz 6,7,8 ...

>From the US National Intelligence Estimate, "The Soviet Space Program" =
11-1-71, issued 1 July 1971 (I acknowledge the efforts of Charles Vick =
on this)...

page 29..."Soviet Space activity 19 June 1969 through 27 June 1971" =
Section A "Manned Space Flight" Paragraphs 1 and 2...

"1. Soyuz 6-7-8. In October 1969, the most complex manned space =
mission ever taken by the USSr was attempted when Soyuz 6, 7, 8 were =
launched on consecutive days. Soyuz 6 and 8 each had two cosmonauts =
aboard while Soyuz 7 carried thre. A significant portion of the mission =
was to involve automatic rendezouvs and docking of Soyuz 7 and i, the =
observation of this procuedre by the crew of Soyuz 6, and the =
cosmonaut-controlled rendezvous of Soyuz t with the other two.

2. The first rendezous attempts made during themission all were =
unsuccessful for several different reasons. The first failed because =
the automatic rendezvous system would not indicate radar lock-on between =
Soyuz 7 and 8. Two orbits later the first manual rendezouv attempt was =
made but it was broken off after Soyuz 8 used more than the authorized =
amount of attitude control propellant. A second manual attempt, made =
the next day, failed because Soyuz 8 did not properly control its =
lateral velocity relative to Soyuz 7. The attempt by Soyuz 6 to =
carryout a cosmonaut-controlled rendezvous with the other two spacecraft =
failed because of insufficient time to correct for a three kilometer =
out-of-plane separation between it and the other vehicles. The final =
manual attempt at rendezvous and docking between Soyuz 7 and 8 was =
poorly timed and the vehicles could not establish the correct interval =
and relative velocity between them required for a docking operatoin =
before they entered the earth's shadow."=20

Dwayne Day I suspect has this document, but I can bet you that he won't =
admit to it, and furthermore, would not ever think of sharing it....

A special request....I realize a lot of you out there have documents you =
have not shared, research you have accumulated you have not shared...but =
when it comes to US goverment documents, please share them...it can only =
enhance the discourse....don't be like Dwayne and show that the Ph D =
means "[BS] piled high deep" rather than the believed and =
meritocracy-supported "doctor of philosophy".....Mr. Day can change his =
course and attitude and share, particularly how he got his =
documents....so anyone else can get them as well...but I don't think =
that he will....
