Speaking of new books, there is a new book that just came out from the
British Interplanetary Society (BIS) entitled "The History of Mir,
1986-2000." It is loaded with lots of impressive color photos and some
great essays. Contributors include Phillip Clark, Rex Hall, Bart Hendrickx,
Andrew Salmon, Dave Shayler, Bert Vis, and Dave Woods.

Rex Hall is the editor of the work.

I'd especially note that Bart Hendrickx's history of Mir article is pretty
much the place to start for any kind of history of Mir. It is crammed with
important technical details about how the station and its modules came into
existence.

Also notable are Bert Vis' essays (one a photo tour of Mir) and some
spectacular drawings by FPSpacer David Woods.

I believe the book is available from the BIS for $27 (members) and $46
(non-members). THeir address is:
