MOSCOW, September 1 (Itar-Tass) - The Russian government plans to assign
4,070,893,000 rubles for space exploration and uses in 2001, says a draft
federal budget for next year.
These include 733,506,000 ruble in state support to the space industry
(489,206,000 rubles for maintenance of the ground sites of the space
industry
and 244,300,000 rubles for buying space and military machinery),
3,337,387,000 rubles for research and development and 29,754,000 rubles in
administrative spending.
Yet sources in the Russian Aerospace Agency has told Prime Tass that the
funds are not enough for adequate financing of the Russian space industry.
For
instance, Russia's spending solely on the construction of the international
space station has to exceed 3 billion rubles next year.
