This is definitely a funny site worth checking out. They need to
eliminate the cheesy animation at the beginning (it was a good try). And
they DEFINITELY need to get rid of the music--Also Sprach Zarathustra and
the theme from The Terminator played on a Casio keyboard sound really
awful. I think that if you want to be taken seriously, you have to come
across as slightly stuffy.
While discussing websites:
Space.com has a really neat pop-up animation for their new SETI link. You
need a fast connection to get it to work, but it was really nice when I
saw it. I normally hate pop-up animations, but this one is cool.
Also I have noticed that space.com seems to have more ads on its main
site, which is a positive sign for them. (They still don't update their
page over the weekend and some articles stay on their homepage for 3-4
days.)
Space Illustrated has two proposed covers for their next issue, both
featuring closeup photos of astronaut Bowman from 2001. They are both
nice, catchy photos and either one would make for a great cover (I
like the red one myself). They supposedly refer to an article about what
Tom Hanks thinks of the movie 2001, so it seems that every issue is going
to have a celebrity link in order to sell magazines. I'm personally
interested in what Brittney Spears thinks of Helium 3 mining on the moon.
