[FPSPACE] R-7 designations and dates?

I'm writing about US missile launches in 1957 and want to compare them to
Soviet launches.  Unfortunately, I don't have the latest references on
this stuff.

Does anyone have:

-dates of the first R-7 launches
-which ones were successful/failures
-designations of the rockets used at this time
(particularly for the August ICBM test and the Sputnik launch)
-engine thrust and payload capability


I only really need them up to Sputnik.  But all I know about are the
August and September launches and nothing more.
