Terre des Hommes Netherlands published, in cooperation with the Nigerian
Union Netherlands, in 1999 a report on Trafficking of Nigerian Girls to the
Netherlands. This report was a result of a in dept field research in the
Netherlands (mostly Amsterdam) and Nigeria (the Edo state). During the
research victims, traffickers and costumers were interviewed.
The report has been a great help for the Dutch police and other institutions
working on the issue of trafficking of Nigerian girls. Because of the
information in this report the Dutch ambassador in Nigeria was dismissed of
(Unfortunately we didn't have the time and money yet to translate this
report in English.)
We know many other European NGO's are concerned about the seriousness of
this trafficking in young Nigerian girls to European countries like Italy,
Belgium, France and Germany.
Unfortunately we have not been able to contact them.
Since we are of the opinion that it is important to raise awareness on this
issue at the level of European Politicians. We would like to compose a
report on 'Trafficking of Nigerian girls to Europe' in cooperation with the
NGO's in all European countries who do know any information on this issue.
Please contact me at firstname.lastname@example.org ; mailto:email@example.com
I hope to hear from you.
