Filipino women in Malaysian sex dens

More than 100 young Filipino women are being held captive in prostitution
dens in Kota Kinabalu.
Two of who were able to escape claimed that they were lured by a certain Lea
to work in Malaysia as
waitresses but ended up in brothels. When they got there, they claimed,
they were asked to
accompany the customers and were later forced to have sex in places they
believed were motels. One
of them was able to sought help from a Malaysian air Force officer who
contacted the Malaysian
immigration office. They were able to return home without proper travel
documents.

The Bureau of Immigration has asked the assistance of the National Bureau of
Investigation and
Presidential Anti-Organized Crime Task Force to arrest and file charges
against the people behind the
recruitment of the two Filipino women who were recruited to work as
prostitutes in Malaysia.
Immigration Commissioner Rufus Rodriguez has also requested the Philippine
Overseas Employment
Administration to assist into the investigation and determine the possible
involvement of
manila-based employment agencies in recruiting women so they can be
blacklisted and banned
further from deploying Filipino workers abroad.
