The Associated Press.
LISBON, Portugal (AP) -- Police said Thursday they broke up an
international prostitution ring and arrested five Brazilians, three
Colombians and two Portuguese, news reports said.
The Brazilian and Colombian citizens, all women, were detained for being
in Portugal illegally, state radio RDP said.
A Portuguese man and woman were arrested for allegedly promoting
prostitution and illegal immigration, the radio said.
Police also shut down three houses on suspicion of fostering
prostitution, which is banned in Portugal, the radio said.
No further details were given.
There are several prostitution places, mainly in northern Portugal,
which contract illegal immigrant women from South America and Eastern
Europe.
