The International Oganization for Migration (IOM), through its Regional
Office for East Asia and Oceania/MANILA, and the Government of Japan has
started pilot implementation of the project entitled Trafficking
Information Mainstreaming Project in the Philippines (TIMP), in April of
this year. TIMP aims to raise the overall level of awareness among the
general population of the Philippines of the debilitating effects
trafficking has on society and the welfare of its victims through the airing
of two 30-second public service announcements (PSAs) in movietheatres.
Screening will start in August and will run till April 2001. The PSAs will
be aired five times a day, four days a week, in 19 movie theatres all over
Metro Manila.
