"Agricultural Migrant Labor in North America" will be the subject of a
conference in Los Angeles November 8-10, 1999. The conference is under the
auspices of the North American Agreement on labor Cooperatio, a cooperative
activity of the U.S. Department of Labor, Human Resources Development
Canada, and Mexico's Secretaria Del Trabajo y Prevision Social.

There will be addresses and panel discussions on:

* The extent and pattern of migrant labor in the NAFTA countries
* Rights and Protections Afforded Migrant Workers
* Gaps in Coverage and Challenges to Enforcement
* Recognizing the contributions of migrant labor to the economies of the
three NAFTA countries
* Common Concerns and Best Practices, specifically concerning:
        * Living and Working Conditions
        * Social Services and Legal Rights
        * Women and Families
