More strippers picked up in raid: Hungarian women 'exploited': T.O. cops

Three European strippers were among 22 people charged with bawdy house
offences in a Toronto Police raid on a west-end strip club.
"There was some sexual intimacy taking place at the time we went in," Det.
Bert O'Mara said yesterday of the Thursday raid at Solid Gold Toronto, on
O'Mara said three Hungarian dancers have been detained on immigration holds
after being arrested for working illegally. He said the women's work
permits had expired.
Officers are also looking into several agents here and abroad who are
sending girls to Canada with the promise of high-paying modeling and acting
jobs, he said.
It was the second strip club raid in two weeks in which Hungarian strippers
"It's always a concern when women ... are being exploited here," O'Mara
said. "No Canadian citizen would work under these conditions."
The 22 people charged with bawdy house offences were released on their own
recognizance. They return to East Mall court in a month.
