I wrote my two cents on this issue to those who favored legitimacy, but I
agree with you very completely. Having spent too many years in advertising
and marketing, Americans are not the only capitalist country that
perpetuates commercializing women as accoutrements and commodities to be
considered as just so much fluff. Any wonder teenage girls and others have
esteem problems?

Revealing "first person" article in our local weekly paper about a woman
with large breasts who had a miserable time in high school because she and
others with "more than just a boyish figure" were considered either sluts
or bitches. So what did she do--wear big shirts and loose clothes to
become anonymous. All the rationales that I have heard for
legitimacy--economic self sufficiency, etc., do not hold water. When a
women as a prostitute is no longer "desireable" what does she do to
support herself for the rest of her life--with so little "training" as a
prostitute, it only makes self sufficiency more difficult.

Ok--wont preach the choir. Good work! Bob Aronson, MiraMed
