Bangladesh sends back 14 Thai prostitutes

DHAKA, Jan 12 (Reuters) - Fourteen Thai women who were forced into
prostitution by a South Korean hotel operator in the Bangladesh capital
were sent back home on Tuesday, the official BSS news agency reported.

``The Thai girls were sent back through an initiative taken by the
Thailand
Embassy in Dhaka,'' BSS quoted a police officer as saying.

Police rescued the 14 women from a hotel named ``Party and Party'' in
the
capital's Uttara district on Sunday. Police said the women were brought
to
Bangladesh with employment visas as waitresses of the hotel several
months
ago but were later forced into prostitution.

Police raided the hotel after one of the women fled the hotel and
reported
the sexual abuse.
