Martadinata Haryono, an 18 year old rape counselor volunteer for Women
raped during Indonesia's riots in May, was found murdered with stab
wounds and a slashed neck. See story at CNN's World page for
Oct.10,1998 at
http://cnn.com/WORLD/asiapcf/9810/10/indonesia.rape/index.html

I recently gave a talk at a California Conference concerning the
conditions in prisons and jails, called Critical Resistance.
I remember that as I spoke of how the struggle against rape is, in fact,
War, there was an attractive young Woman who kept sarcastically rolling
her eyes at my words.

I send Martadinata Haryono, my prayers, my tribute, my respect and I
must vehemently repeat,.... This is War.

Group to aid Honduran kids used as
drug traffickers

TEGUCIGALPA, Honduras, Oct 5 (Reuters) - A private
children's rights group said on Monday it was sending experts to
Canada to help about 200 Honduran children allegedly used by
drug gangs to smuggle cocaine into Vancouver.

Police in Vancouver detained more than 10 Honduran children aged 10 to 17
last month as part of
a drug investigation.

``We're sending these educators to try to rescue these Honduran children who
were used as mules
by drug traffickers,'' Adalid Irias, spokeswoman for the Casa Alianza
advocacy group, told
reporters.

Irias said about 200 Honduran children were used to carry drugs in
Vancouver. ``These children
cannot continue to be exploited,'' she said. ``We have to save them and
identify those responsible
for trafficking them and using them in Canada.''
