It was founded by St.Shio. The old church was built in the begining of 6th century on behalf of John the Baptist. It is the so called "free cross" type building, very plane and strict. There have been built a great number of buildings, but the old part has preserved its original forms. Frescoes belong to the end of the 19th century.
