METEKHI

Metekhi church stands in Tbilisi. It was built in 12th century. In 1235 Mongols burned it, but in 1278-1289 the king of Georgia Demetre restorated church. During 15th century it was destroyed by Persians. In 16-17th centuries georgian kings rebuilted Metekhi and until now, it has brick walls. This beautiful church stands on the hill near river Mtkvari and adds to Tbilisi very nice vivid.
