The Chernobyl Union provides legal and psychological support to people in Krasnodar who have suffered injuries or medical complications from the Chernobyl nuclear accident in 1986. The union counsels victims and families of victims on their rights and lobbies the regional administration for improved services and legislation to protect this segment of the population. It has also published a directory of medical specialists and legal services in the region, which it distributes free-of-charge. The union also works to inform the public about the dangers of radiation through articles in the press, presentations on local TV and radio shows, and informational booklets.
