  1. PROJECT GOAL

    Network Information Center (NIC) shall provide telecommunication and information services to organizations and enterprises of Snezhinsk and other towns the north of Chelyabinsk region. Center shall carry out the following main task:

    Project implementation requires investments in amount of 250,000 US dollars with the payback in 5 years. Initial funds are to be spent on:

  3. ACTUAL CHARACTER OF THE PROJECT

    Exceptional importance of new communications based on network computer technology is evident today. Thus it is extremely important to arrange modern communications services in Snezhinsk, where there is a number of different highly developed enterprises. Public town computer network shall be the base for creation of integrated town information space. Project allows to solve the problem of setting up high-grade and high speed communication lines with Chelyabinsk, Ekaterinburg, Chelyabinsk-65 and the largest WAN.

  4. SUBSCRIBERS

    The following Snezhinsk organizations are planned to become the subscribers of the integrated town computer network:

    Banks also should be considered to be potential consumers of computer data communication system, but they might require the creation of special secret fragment of this network.

    When the high speed channel is connected to the WAN, NIC will become the regional network node for the enterprises of the north of Chelyabinsk region and, perhaps, Ekaterinburg and Chelyabinsk.

  5. SERVICES

    NIC shall provide the following services:

      • e-mail
      • high-grade fax transmission
      • teleconferences
      • satellite videoconferences
    2. Network services:
      • file transmission through the network
      • access to remote computers
    3. Information services:
      • development of specialized databases
      • arrangement of local and regional teleconferences
    4. Software development
    5. Creation of the local networks
    6. Technical maintenance of communication equipment
    7. Consultations and tuition
  6. TECHNOLOGY

    All the telecommunication system ad network in Snezhinsk are planned to be implemented in internet-technology on the base of TCP/IP.

  7. STAFF

    Staff is planned to consist of 20-30 specialists. NIC is supposed to have 3 teams:
