LLOYD DONALDSON was one of the original founding staff of the St Petersburg Press when it began in May 1993, first as news editor and then managing editor (his current role). He is a New Zealand-born career journalist who made his start in newspapers in Western Australia before leaving that region in 1990 to travel the world. As a free-lance reporter operating from London he covered the wars in Croatia and Bosnia, before re-locating to St Petersburg, Russia in 1992. Prior to journalism he worked as a financial consultant, hamburger chef, oil and mineral industry consultant, house painter, market researcher, forklift driver, etc. He is in his early 30s. His BA degree (in history and literature) from the universities of Canterbury and Auckland is but a vague memory.
