Energy sector needs billions, says head

The president of Russia's major energy company said last week that the country's energy sector needs billions of dollars to get back on its feet.

Anatoly Dyakov, president of RAO EES Rossii, said at the Forum of Energy Producers from Central and Eastern Europe that investments totalling $25 billion are needed to construct new power plants and transmission lines across the country.

Participants from 35 countries attended the forum, which was devoted to the creation of a common energy system in Europe. (Severo-Zapad, SPP)
