The Petrogradsky District police was informed by the captain of the cruiser Aurora ship-museum of a telephone threat from a young person claiming a bomb had been placed on the bottom of the fixed cruiser.
The worrying call came at midday on the last Sunday in March. Rear Admiral Lev Chernavin, in command of the cruiser, said he never took the call seriously and decided not to inform his 51-member crew or his current visitors until the situation could be checked out.
Alexei Ivanov, head of the duty unit of the Petrogradsky District Police Department, said, "The marines checked everything thoroughly.
"It became clear the call was phony when our specialists showed up, talked with the engineers, and checked the area with our trained dog." (SPP)
