The St Petersburg Center for the Support of Art and Entrepreneurship (CSAE) and the Vasilyevsky Ostrov Youth Center are currently searching for talent in local schools and kindergartens.
Posters will also be pasted up around the city inviting children to come and indulge their creative leanings.
Organizers hope around 1,000 youngsters a day will attend the week-long event which begins on February 3.
All participants will have access to paper, brushes and paints but will be obliged to paint on the floor.
The event will also feature clowns and musicians as well as a free lottery.
However, no prizes will be awarded for outstanding work.
Mikhail Nekrasov, vice-president of the CSAE, said, "It's not a publicity stunt. We just want to give the children a good time. We want them to have fun and it's interesting for us too."
Children who have not been officially invited are also welcome to join in the fun -- adult tickets cost 5,000 roubles. The money will go towards paying for the exhibition's expenses.
At 9pm, rock band Auktsion will give a concert in support of the action.
The CSAE, located at 13 Bolshaya Konyushennaya Ulitsa, is also involved with setting up a cultural center by the Church of the Savior on the Spilled Blood.
