New acting Mariinsky head looks for positives
The Mariinsky Theater, recently tainted by rumors of bribe-taking, received a new acting director to replace former director Anatoly Malkov. Former Komissarzhevskaya Theater director Yuri Schvarzkopf was appointed acting director of the Mariinsky by order of the ministry of culture.
Iron `Winnie the Pooh' hits out hard
Yegor Gaidar was in pugilistic spirit as he slammed his political opponents on a visit to St Petersburg. "The Communist Party robbed the country and presented the bill to the democrats," he said during last week's flying one-day visit.
