St Petersburg's motorists are suffering from a severe lack of fuel supplies. Theories abound as to the reason for the petrol drought; many have blamed the mafia.
St Petersburg police seized six people, who alleged were part of an
international criminal group that had employed Vladimir Levin, the local
computer expert arrested in London in March.
Yevgeny Melnitsky, 48, a St Petersburg lawyer was brutally slain just days before he was due to
represent alleged book thief Dmitri Yakubovsky in a pre-trial hearing.
