THEATER TIPS
- Theater tickets can be purchased at Russian prices, for roubles, at any of the numerous theater kiosks (
). If you are a Russian speaker, refer to the large grid schedule posted in the window, which lists theaters down the side, and dates across the top. Non-Russian speakers can use the phrase glossary and events listings on this page to attempt an order. All you have to know how to say is the name of the theater, the day of the week (or “today” or “tomorrow”), and the number of tickets needed.
- If you don't find what you want at the kassas, or if price is not important, a more convenient alternative is to deal through a major hotel. They offer good seats at western prices.
- At the theater, it is obligatory to check your coat. At most coat-checks you may also rent opera glasses for a nominal charge.
- Performances generally start on time.
