ABOUT TOWN

February in St Petersburg might not seem most people';s idea of the ideal location to host a beach party.

Nevertheless, Mollie';s Irish Bar and Domenico';s night club are giving you the chance to go snow --; or slush --; surfing this Thursday night.

Its hardly California, Hawaii or Bell';s Beach, but the organizers are hoping for a tidal wave of appropriately clad revellers, looking for a chance to dream together of sunnier climes.

The party will begin in Mollie';s at 9 pm, before surfing on to Domenico';s at 1 am. The tide will not go out there until 6 am.

Entry to Domenico';s will be free if you';re coming from Mollie';s.

There will be a free cocktail for everyone who arrives at Mollie';s in costume.

Organizers will be providing summer food --; ice cream, hot dogs, BBQ chicken wings and other surfie culture snacks will be the order of the day.

Mollie';s are also expecting a nudist colony to assemble down one end of the bar.

Sand and a smorgasboard of suitably beachy decorations will help us all forget the gloom of St Petersburg mid-winter.

Mollie';s management said the response to the idea had been unbelievably enthusiastic so far and they expect the atmosphere to be pumping on the night.

They also promised that their resident cocktail barman, Christian, will move on to Domenico';s after things flatten out at Mollie';s --; Bryan Brown and Tom Cruise, who needs them!
