Green films hit town

Environmental film makers and experts from around the world converge in St Petersburg this week for an environmental film festival aimed at raising interest in ecology.

From March 13 to 15, the Rodina cinema will host "The Environment of Big Cities in Europe" film conference focusing on traffic, recreation and health, and environmental action.

Green film makers from European countries including Great Britain and France will discuss western and eastern European approaches to ecology.

"The festival should be a good opportunity to tell many Russian film directors that their films and TV commercials can be not only a tool for earning money, but can also be a tool to turn the flow of many world ecological problems to the better," said Lali Gvilia, a festival organizer. (SPP)
