Russian copyright law failing to deliver

Local producers, concert promoters and music journalists at the "Copyright in Music" international seminar heard that Russian copyright law does not yet function properly.

Doctor Alexander Sergeyev of St Petersburg University's law faculty evaluated the current Russian copyright law as being not less sophisticated than most Western copyright laws, admitted that it had yet to work properly.

"There are still very few cases when someone's copyrights were protected," he said. (SPP)
