PERFORMING ARTS
Putting the accent on perfection
"I've been to concerts in the States and squirmed in my seat as otherwise fine singers butcher `Eugene Onegin' by bellowing it out in simply God-awful Russian," said Laurence Richter -- the man who wants to change this.

Bronislava Nijinskaya's ballet "Les Noces" will be performed for the first time in Russia at the Mussorgsky Theater on Saturday. The event comes nearly 75 years after Bronislava Nijinskaya --ballet's first independent woman choreographer and the sister of legendary dancer and choreographer Vaslav Nijinsky -- fled Soviet Russia in 1921.

FOOD
RESTAURANT REVIEW: Good grub at Ye Olde English Pub
Nothing beats a good beer straight from the tap -- though the sweet strong taste of draft cider comes damn close. At St Petersburg's Dog and Fox traditional English style pub you can do both. And when the hunger a few amber liquids creates hits you, you can more than satisfy that yawning gulf in your stomach with a variety of tasty snacks and meals.

Catherine the Great's collection of drawings by the great French painter Nicholas Poussin is currently on show at the Hermitage. Many of the 36 drawings, some of which were purchased by the museum at a later date, have never been seen by the public before.

MUSIC

As summer rolls into the city, four local clubs are joining forces to organize St Petersburg's first International Club Festival, which will be held at the Ten Club on Thursday. The 12-hour festival will be linked to an international political rally in Moscow on June 10 protesting against the war in Chechnya and compulsory military service.
