Located at 1 Zagordony Prospect, this continental style cafe is within walking distance of Vladimirskaya Metro and has a relaxed and pleasing atmosphere.
Among its specialities are various home-made hearty soups including fish soup (Uka), meat broth (Solyanka) and a tasty mushroom soup (Grybny Soup) all for around 20,000 roubles.
There are masses of dainty hors d'oeuvres (Zakusky) many of them containing prawns, muscles and cockles as well as crab garnished with various types of Russian salad. These will set you back around 10,000 roubles each. Strawberries and kiwis with fresh cream is tantalising but expensive at 20,000 roubles while cream and jam sponge cake is a more realistic 4,000 roubles.
As for the drinks, regular tea (3,000 roubles) with lemon is served and strong Turkish coffee without milk at 4,000 roubles. But the prize goes to the delicious molten chocolate drink which closely resembles the Spanish "chocolate y chirros" and is only for those with a very sweet tooth (7,000 roubles). The interior is cozy with pleasant red tiles, and an attractive moulded ceiling. There is also table service from the friendly waitresses at this, one of the town's better local cafes.
