It cost 100,000 roubles (or mere 10,000 if you are lucky to be a woman) to enjoy the lights and the sounds at Relax. When we went along there were many Russians but few foreigners.
A little out of the way (two tram stops from Ploshchad Muzhestva Metro in the north of the city), the Relax nightclub attracts about 30-50 people during the week and up to 200 on weekends. Public's ages range between 25 and 40.
The club has a restaurant, two big bars, two billiards, a stage and a dance floor (all in the same room) as well as two shops selling American sportswear and Western car spare parts.
Opened on New Year's Eve and working on a daily basis, the club has a packed and entertaining agenda in which the public is treated to a variety of shows and performances by Russian pop singers. The club's specialty is loud rave music which starts booming out when the "quiet" majority of the audience leaves at around 3am (or 5am on Friday).
To avoid possible unpleasant situations, there is a round-the-clock police presence. A guard dog keeps watch outside.
