Science

Numerous opportunities exist for work between the scientific and research communities of our nations. This server should provide information to help people become more aware of opportunities.

Jennifer Green has established a very nice server called Friends and Partners in Space -- describing the space programs of Russia and the United States and their cooperative work together.

Dr. Welling Hall has prepared a complete conference proceedings from the Women, Politics, and Environmental Action symposia held in Moscow in June, 1994.

exUSSR Nuclear Technology and the World -- Peter Angelo's large, comprehensive WWW site on "exUSSR Nuclear Technology and the World". "This page focuses on World-wide impact and policy issues pertainent to Soviet nuclear technology. Lots of clickable flag image maps direct you to the country of your choice and how its nuclear programs are impacted/influenced by soviet nuclear technology."

SPACEHAB is the world's only commercially developed manned space system and was done so by McDonnell Douglas Aerospace in response to market assessments. SPACEHAB is also now working with scientists in Russia on projects and will play a major role in future MIR/Shuttle missions. If there is interest in Russia to fly experiments on the Shuttle via SPACEHAB they should access SPACEHAB's WWW site!

Scientist to Scientist is an excellent publication produced by the American Association for the Advancement of Science which serves as a clearinghouse of information on funding opportunities for scientists in the region of the former Soviet Union; conferences and meetings in that region; and general networking information for all disciplines.

The Association of Scientific Societies of Russia ("Soyuz Nauchnych Obshchestv Rossii" - (SNOR)) held its Second Congress in Moscow, February 6-7, 1995. The goal of this society is to revive the traditional role of scientific societies in Russia after many years of government dominance. The NSF/EUROPE's Report No. 75, written by Christine Glenday (head of the NSF/EUROPE office) gives an excellent executive summary of this meeting.

Shevchenko Scientific Society (Naukove Tovarystvo im. Shevchenka) is now available exclusively at the Ukraine FAQ Plus Project. "The Shevchenko Scientific Society is the oldest Ukrainian academy of arts and sciences whose activities have been the mainstay of Ukrainian culture for the last 120 years."

The purpose of the INFOMAG Service is distribution of bibliographical and other scientific information, primarily of scientific technical journals' tables of contents, and also of foreign electronic bulletins, via electronic networks. The Service is non-profit and works on non-commercial grounds. We are grateful to Victor Veselago (infomag@lgrant.mipt.msk.su), Head of INFOMAG, for making this possible.

We are pleased to offer archives of the "Journal of Experimental and Theoretical Physics (JETP)" and the Computer Press (CP) contents provided by the INFOMAG Service Group. We are, again, grateful to Victor Veselago of INFOMAG for making this possible.

Uspekhi Fizicheskikh Nauk (aka Physics-Uspekhi) is one of the most recognized physical journals of the former USSR. UFN publishes reviews of the most current topical problems in physics and in associated fields by the best Russian scientists. If you cannot access this site, archives are also available from the journal section of the Infomag server.

The "Za Nauku" university newspaper of the Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology is now on-line thanks once again to Infomag. The publishers wish to distribute this newspaper electronically free of charge, reaching PhysTech alumni around the world. This newspaper is in Russian and is encoded according to RFC1489 (KOI-8) standard. We also maintain an archive of issues on our server dated from October 8 1993 to July 14, 1994 on our server.

PhysTech Journal. "CenterCom Publishers and Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology presents a new quarterly journal for students, teachers, professors, and scientists interested in natural sciences and humanities, in the part related to natural sciences (history and philosophy of science, etc.). There is a free subscription offer from this page.
