Subject: To help Russia.

I am looking for images of Russian outdoor markets and street vendors. Have you seen any on the sites you work on? If so, could you let me know their URL so I can link to them.

Do you know of anybody in Russia who can upload images of markets (from anywhere) on their web site?

I am actually looking for more than just images but someone who can report news on and about these markets.

We are a non-profit site devoted to assisting open air markets and their vendors. We do not seek fees for what we do. We have no budget; this is an all volunteer effort. I want to help Russia by highlighting its many outdoor markets which should bring more tourist dollars to them, and perhaps more tourists to Russia. In addition, these outdoor markets can be a low cost entrepreneurial training ground. We are non-ideological. We want to help poor people struggling to survive.

If you know of someone concerned with the economic well-being of Russia and wants to work with us (for free) we will be glad to work together.

Thanks for your help.

Subject: Vyatka

I saw your photo exhibition on the WWW yesterday, and found it fascinating
because I have roots in the Vyatka area. I am sending this to you because
you are the first person I have encountered that even knows where Vyatka is.

My father, Wsiewolod (Vsevolod) Piekarski was born in Slobodskoi in 1917.
His mother, Ekaterina Rusakova, came from the Chernaya Holunitsa area. I
know a fair amount about the early history of Vyatka, but nothing about
Slobodskoi or Chernaya Holunitsa. Do you know anybody there with whom I
could communicate? Is there any chance of findinf family records in
Slobodskoi or Chernaya Holunitsa? Any help you can give me would be much
appreciated.

very well done.
I like the Siberia-related pages.
It was great to find Magadan on the web, and with pictures to boot! I've been to Magadan 3 times in the last 3 years, along with Khabarosk, Irkutsk, and many other places.
Keep up the wonderful work.

Reply: I do not quite understand why you suggest to add
your collections of songs about Hawaii to
pages about Moscow and Petersburg. Anyway, the link
is posted here, and now moscovites and petersburgers
can visit Hawaii remaining in their cities.

My wife and I are very impressed at the extensive amount of
information and pictures available at these pages and the
sister pages "Impressions ...".

She was especially struck by seeing and recognizing certain
key pictures in and around Petrozavodsk, since she was there
herself not long ago. (She remembers being "right there,
through that door" at the university, for example. Also,
"right there" for the waterfall picture from the park/reserve. Others too.)

Best regards,
Eric Anderson
