APPLESAUCE SALAD
INGREDIENTS and PROPORTIONS: 1/4 cup cinnamon imperials (candy)
1 cup water
3 oz lemon jello mix (1 small package)
1 cup applesauce
4-5 ice cubes
PROCEDURE: (1) Place the candy and water in a pot. Bring to a
boil, stirring to dissolve the candy.
(2) Add jello powder and stir until it is dissolved.
(3) Stir in applesauce and ice cubes until ice cubes
are melted.
(4) Pour into a bowl and refrigerate until set (1 hour
or more).
Notes.
TIME-CONSUMING: 10 minutes preparation, 1-3 hours to chill.
DIFFICULTY RATE: Easy
WARNINGS:
Substituting apple cider or apple juice for the water adds
tremendous taste. We prefer homemade "chunky" style
applesauce to processed commercial brands.
COMMENTS: A delicious jello salad, taken from "The Monterey Coast
Guard Officers' Wives Club Cookbook." My sister-in-law was
the president of the club which put that cookbook together.
