American: Chocolate Almond Butterballs
INGREDIENTS and PROPORTIONS:2 cups flour
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 ounces Baker's semi-sweet (or unsweetened)
chocolate
1 Tablespoon milk
3/4 cup butter
1/2 cup sugar
2 teaspoons vanilla
extract
1/2 cup chopped blanched almonds.
1) Sift the flour with the salt and set aside.
2) Melt the chocolate and set it aside to cool.
3) Cream the butter, sugar and vanilla. Blend in the cooled chocolate and the milk.
Gradually add the dry ingredients and mix well.
4) Mix in the chopped nuts.
5) Shape the dough into balls. The balls may be rolled in granulated sugar before
baking, if desired. Place balls 1/2 inch apart on a baking sheet and bake at
180 degrees C (350 degrees F) for 12 to 15 minutes.
