Soviet Union and Its Successor States Workshops

AGENCY: Social Science Research Council

PROGRAM: The Joint Committee for the Soviet Union and Its Successor States currently sponsors summer workshops in three areas: Soviet Domestic Politics and Society; Sociology and Anthropology; and Imperial Russian History. These workshops are intended to counteract the isolation of many graduate students and junior scholars in these fields by providing them with an opportunity to interact with peers, discuss their research and matters of mutual concern, establish contact, learn new methodologies, discuss sources, and promote innovative research. Workshop costs, including transportation, housing and meals will be provided by the SSRC.

QUALIFICATIONS: Students enrolled in Ph.D. programs and junior scholars who received their Ph.D's after June 1988 are eligible to apply. Workshop partcipants will be selected on the basis of an international competition to be administered by the SSRC. The program is subject to the availability of funds.
