East European Language Training Grants


AGENCY: Social Science Research Council

PROGRAM: Grants will be offered for the first- or second-year study of any East European language (except the languages of the Commonwealth of Independent States) in the United States. Grants will also be offered for intermediate or advanced training in these languages in Eastern Europe. These grants are intended to support summer language training for students and scholars who cannot receive such training at their home institutions. In cases of special need, tutorial instruction during the academic year may be supported.

QUALIFICATIONS: U.S. citizenship or permanent resident status is required. Graduating college seniors, graduate students, and postdoctoral scholars are eligible to apply.

MONETARY SUPPORT: $2,000 for first- or second-year grants; and $2,500 for intermediate or advanced training grants.
