Soviet Union and Its Successor States Research and Development Grants

PROGRAM: This competition is designed to support meetings, workshops, and pilot projects devoted to initiatives and innovation in the theories, methods, and approaches applied to the study of the former Soviet Union, or to pre-Soviet periods in a manner which informs the foundation of knowledge about the successor states of the former Soviet Union. Particular consideration will be given to proposals containing some or all of the following elements: interdisciplinary and comparative study; non- traditional disciplinary approaches; training and retraining in methodology; participation of predoctoral students in proposed project; and collaborative research.

QUALIFICATIONS: At least one of the principal investigators submitting a proposal must be a U.S. citizen.

MONETARY SUPPORT: The maximum grant awarded is $7,500. Applications for matching funds are welcome, but no institutional overhead will be provided.
