PROGRAM: The program is designed to support the work of U.S. researchers cooperating with those of Bulgaria in research and related activities in science and engineering. The cooperative projects are conducted jointly by principal investigators from the U.S. and Bulgaria. Interested persons should call the program office for current information before applying. Porposals may be submitted at any time of the year, but applicants are encouraged to meet the target date of May 1. Processing time for proposals averages seven months.
QUALIFICATIONS: U.S. universities and colleges, professional societies, research institutes, agencies affiliated with such organizations, and individual scientists and engineers may apply for support. Principal investigators/project directors should be U.S. scientists and engineers with at least five years of scientific work experience beyond the doctorate.
RESTRICTIONS: Activities typically require approval of both NSF and its Bulgarian counterpart agency before funding is given by either country.
