     5th International Workshop on Digital Image Processing and
                           Computer Graphics

                  "Image Processing and Computer Optics"

                   August 23--26, 1994, Samara, Russia

The Russian Academy of Sciences
(the Institute of Image Processing Systems, Samara,
and the Institute for Information Transmission Problems, Moscow),
the Samara State Aerospace University,
and the Austrian Academy of Sciences
(the Institute of Information Processing, Vienna)
invite you to participate in the four-day
Workshop on Image Processing and Computer Optics.

The workshop is regarded as an informal event to exchange
scientific results, methods, and ideas and encourage
scientific cooperation between scientists from West and East. Papers
devoted to new trends in image processing and computer optics,
including theory, algorithms, and applications, are welcome. Topics
of interest include, but are not limited to, the following:

- new trends in image transforms and filters,
- multicomponent image processing,
- image restoration and compression,
- computer optics and digital holography,
- biomedical imaging and image processing,
- industrial applications and remote sensing,
- computer vision and pattern recognition,
- image-processing hardware and software.

TECHNICAL PROGRAM

The Technical Program will include three presentations by
eminent speakers and approx. 30 half-hour presentations of
technical papers. Authors wishing to present a paper should
submit a draft version and a two-page abstract
by March 31, 1994. All papers must be original and unpublished,
written in English. The submitted papers will be critically
reviewed by an international group of experts. The authors
will be informed on acceptance of their contributions by
April 30, 1994. The final camera-ready copy (not more than 10
pages including images) for inclusion in the Proceedings of
the workshop is due on May 31, 1994.

REGISTRATION AND REGISTRATION FEES

To register please fill in the attached registration form and return it
to one of the correspondence addresses given below.
The early registration fees are \$ 400. After 25 May, fees are \$ 450.
The fees cover the participation in all conference events,
the social program, and accommodation. If you want to make use of the
early bird registration, please transfer the money to the account of

VENUE

The Workshop will take place in Samara, former Kuybyshev.
Samara is situated in a lovely location on the Volga, approx. 1000km
east of Moscow. Until recently Samara was a forbidden
town. The 1.5 million town is one of the major industrial and
scientific areas in Russia. Besides a big aerospace industry,
there are 3 universities and 22 research institutes. At this time of
the year, weather in Samara is beautiful. You can enjoy
summer swimming in the Volga and make a pleasant trip on the
board of a river-boat. Samara has an international airport
serviced from Frankfurt and Istanbul at the moment.
