Dear Colleague:
The U.S. Consulate General and the American Business Center in Yekaterinburg are pleased to invite you to participate in the first U.S. Trade Expo to be held for the Urals/western Siberia region. American consumer goods, food products and food processing equipment -- all in great demand in the region -- will be featured. The Exhibition will be held October 24-26, 1995 at the Ural ExpoCenter in Yekaterinburg.
Regional officials and trading representatives from the entire Urals/western Siberia region will attend this event. This includes the Sverdlovsk, Chelyabinsk, Orenburg, Kurgan, Tyumen, Omsk and Perm Oblasts, the Republics of Udmurtia and Bashkortostan, and the three vast, resource-rich autonomous Okrugs of Khanty-Mansisk, Yamalo-Nenets and Lomi-Permyatsk. In all, we expect more than 500 distributors and representatives of Russian trading companies to attend as well as a much larger public audience.
The Urals/western Siberia region has more than 40 million people and is virtually an untapped market for American products. Boasting 5 cities of over a million people and another six of more than 500,000, this region is already buying a considerable amount of West European, Israeli, Korean and Chinese products. It is eager to develop trading relations with the United States but has to date lacked the necessary contacts to do this.
The recent establishment of the U.S. Consulate General and the American Business Center in Yekaterinburg now makes the development of these regional contacts possible. In the past year, we have hosted a Medical Trade Mission which resulted in $10 million in sales. Other missions, including one focused on telecommunications, yielded additional new partnerships and sales. Solid working relationships established with governmental and business leaders throughout the region have helped to ensure the success of these missions. These contacts can now help you by easing your entry into this potentially lucrative market.

Best prospects for sales, in our opinion, include the following areas: packaged foods, clothing, office and home furniture, home improvement items such as fixtures, quality paint, wallpaper, kitchen and bath items, automotive products, cosmetics, children's accessories including clothes and toys, vitamins, office supplies (including paper products), and a whole range of food processing equipment including beverage lines, sausage makers and mini-bakeries.
The fee for participating in this event is $1,600 which will cover a standard nine square meter exhibit space and western-standard stand, table, chairs and a stand sign with your company's name. Additionally, the money will cover preparation of an event brochure, event promotion group transportation, and a reception. Participants will be responsible for costs of airfare, hotel (about $75/day) and, if needed, individual car rentals ($50/day) and interpreters ($100/day). These services can be arranged through the American Business Center in Yekaterinburg (brochure enclosed). Also, it is possible to rent additional exhibit space at $90 per square meter and to arrange for any special construction that you would like for your stand directly with the Ural ExpoCenter.
We are looking forward to your participation in this event. The deadline for registering for the Exhibition is August 15, 1995. By that date, please return to the Consulate your completed registration form. Also by that date, please send your check or money order, payable to Pragma Corporation (the parent organization of the American Business Center), at:
